The lectures in this themed issue explain how an earnest prayer is heard and how it has its effect. In the first lecture, a deceased woman – an ascending spirit being – reports on her tasks with human beings and on her activities in fulfilling prayers. An earnestly expressed prayer creates vibrations that are immediately recognized as a prayer by a spirit of God. If a human being prays to God or to Christ, there are certain responsible spirits of God who receive the prayer, pass it onward, and see to its fulfillment. No earnest prayer is lost – every one is heard and benefits the praying person. If a particular prayer request cannot be fulfilled, the responsible spirits explore how the praying person can otherwise be helped.
The second lecture in this themed journal shows by means of several examples the great joy or relief an intercessory prayer can bring for a deceased person – be that for loved relatives who have passed on or for unhappy spirits who have not yet found their way into God’s order.
Joseph also explains the extent to which the Our Father includes and contains everything that a human being needs. As basic conditions for an effective prayer, Joseph states that one should go into the quiet, free oneself from daily thoughts, and rise in spirit to the divine world.
